Why should we read?

Reading is a method, a tool, a sense, a technique we use to express each others' ideas and feelings, and to communicate with each other.  The language itself does this, but it's reading and writing that enable us to do this without talking, in times when that person is not there, in times when that person is mute, in times when the other person is def (spelling issue?), in times when... well anytime one person cannot talk to another, and that's almost all of the time
This is not the only reason we read however.  Why the hell do we read books?  Well, in school it's simply a tool to help us develop our reading and writing skills.  But that's a boring take on it.  What else is it?  Imagine that everytime you sit down to read that book, by the way, what author is it?  Okay, imagine that person is sitting right there next to you giving you advise, telling you a story, telling you the wrongs and the rights of the world (and the lefts!), telling you to rebel against the man, telling you to rebel against yourself, explaining the meaning of life, providing a truth, sharing ideas, getting something out to the reader so that they can use it to his or her benefit.  Don't get me wrong, this aint no daddy tellin' ya what to do and take out the garbage.  This is merely a guide through life, an influence, an angel if you may, and that angel will carry us through life and we'll tell it where to carry us.  All we have to do is pick up a book and read it, only then will the angel of art and influence give us ideas to find the real truth in life.
